SUMMARY:Suicide Prevention Gatekeeper Training
DESCRIPTION:The free, virtual Route 91 Suicide Prevention Gatekeeper Training is specifically designed for participants who have an association with the Route 91 tragedy, no matter where they’re currently living. There will be a focus on supporting survivors in mental health and suicide prevention efforts. In the field of suicide prevention, a “Gatekeeper” is someone in a position to recognize a crisis and the warning signs that someone may be contemplating suicide. At the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:\n\nDistinguish suicide myths from suicide facts\nRecognize warning signs and symptoms\nIdentify protective factors\nIncrease ability and willingness to intervene\nIdentify referral resources\nClassify postvention activities as prevention efforts\n\nFaculty: Training provided by the staff of the Nevada Office of Suicide Prevention, Richard Egan, Suicide Prevention Trainer and Outreach Facilitator\nFees: There are no fees associated with this training.\nCE Credit: The Nevada Office of Suicide Prevention offers CEUs for this 2.5-hour workshop at 2.0 credits. Participants receive a certificate of completion to apply to their individual professional board for continuing education credits.\n
