Sunrise Remembrance Ceremony

The annual 1 October Sunrise Remembrance Ceremony will be held at the Clark County Government Center outdoor amphitheater in downtown Las Vegas. Attendees may wish to bring lawn chairs since limited seating will be available.

The event will feature live music from country music singer Pat Dalton (a Route 91 survivor), the Southern Nevada Multiagency Honor Guard, a minute of silence for those lost, and remarks from Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Sheriff Kevin McMahill, Clark County Commission Chairman Jim Gibson, and Steve Gomez (father of Angela “Angie” Gomez, one of the 58 who perished on October 1, 2017). Dalton will perform his original song, “Forever Family,” and “Amazing Grace.” The Academy Singers from the Las Vegas Academy of the Arts, under the direction of Megan Franke, will perform the National Anthem.

The ceremony will be aired live on Clark County Television (CCTV) and possibly local news media television stations and websites. The ceremony will be carried live on Clark County’s YouTube and Facebook profiles. CCTV is available in the Las Vegas area on Channel 4 on Cox, in Laughlin on Channel 14 via Optimum, in Boulder City on Channel 4, and in Moapa Valley on Digital Channel 50.3. One may watch CCTV on streaming devices such as Roku, Apple TV, and Amazon Fire TV via the YouTube app. A recording of the event will be available on-demand later in the day on the county’s Facebook page and the following Monday on its YouTube page.

An artist’s reception will be held in the Rotunda Gallery following the ceremony. Representatives from the JCJ Architecture design team as well as the creators of the creative expression designs have been invited to participate in the reception. The Rotunda Gallery will be open until noon.
