The Gold Standard: EMDR Theory, Practice & Case Discussion

The Vegas Strong Resiliency Center invites its collaborative providers to a free, virtual EMDR training (worth 6 EMDRIA credits) that will combine a refresher on the theory of EMDR and practical information about its use in community mental health settings. Workshop participants will review their existing EMDR therapy knowledge and continue to develop their existing baseline of training, with an eye toward identifying competency and expanding practice comfort.

Participants will review the eight phases of EMDR treatment, with attention to client safety, engagement, and working with both under-activated and over-activated clients. The workshop will focus on the development of negative cognition, resuming reprocessing of an unfinished target, processing triggers, and future templates. The presenters will explore the use of EMD and share a client video of processing a war trauma. They will provide an EMD script to the participants for later use.

There will be an exploration of cognitive interweaves with innovative ways of offering these to clients. The Recent Event Protocol will be discussed along with the “Visual Assessment Tool,” which helps with the development of targets.

Participants will have the opportunity to explore the above skills in a supported and structured training and will be encouraged to ask practice questions.
