UNLV Gathering for Remembrance and Healing
The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites the campus community to join them to remember and reflect on the tragedy from December 6, 2023, which took the lives of Patricia Navarro-Velez, Naoko Takemaru, and Jerry Cha-Jan Chang. The event will include remarks from interim President Chris Heavey, academic faculty and students, and musical performances by members of the College of Fine Arts. The event will also include the unveiling of renderings for the future UNLV Healing Garden and December 6 Memorial, which will be constructed in the heart of the campus as a permanent site for reflection. Mental health professionals from UNLV Counseling and Psychological Services will be onsite and available prior to, during, and after the event to assist individuals in need.
Please remember that our center is available at no-cost for UNLV students, faculty, and staff. They can connect with us for ongoing support, including weekly support groups, mental health providers, integrative services, and financial reimbursement through Nevada’s Victims of Crime Program (VOCP).
